You need to write an about me for the website without it sounding wanky! Turns out it’s not that easy. So what do you want to know?
I’ve been a photographer for over 10 years now and before that, I was lucky enough to work in the film industry with some talented people. Before that, I traveled and saw parts of the world that still inspire me.
Love people! Have always been fascinated by the little details, the quirks and how everything comes together in a moment.
Recently I got diagnosed with ADHD, which has helped me understand how others see the world around them. ADHD doesn’t define me.
Early mornings are my favourite time of day, it’s the calm and possibility that I love.
I’ve got a daughter. Her name is Mango, it’s not really Mango it’s Margot but we like Mango, it kinda feels like a happy fruit.
The studio is based in Halifax (said without the H) in an old Textile Mill. It’s filled with Natural light, plants and music, well our little bit is.
The studio is myself and my wife Jo where we work on the other side of the business which is The Melias Co where we work with brands to create short films and images.

The best way to prepare is to feel relaxed and comfortable. Wear clothes that make you feel great, something that you would wear to meet a friend for coffee. Try to avoid large labels because they date the images a lot quicker and can be distracting.
Coffee, tea, and water are available. There’s a changing room and toilets for you to do your outfits, hair and makeup. Free parking is available around the building (for 2 hours) and paid parking is nearby if you’re staying for longer.

You’ll usually get the proofs from me on the same day as the shoot, and always within a day, via an online gallery for you to proof to your heart’s content!
From this gallery, you can select your chosen images. I’ll then arrange for you to have the fully retouched, ready-to-use images within seven days.
If you want to order more images, you can do so at any time for £20 per image. If you want to arrange another shoot, let me know!

To book a date and time 50% of the session fee is taken when booking and the remaining 50% is due on the day of the session. Please note the session fee doesn’t include any images, all images can be purchased are purchased after the session.

Life happens, so email me at studio@jamesmelia.com to rebook. If your booking is within 2 weeks of the original session then it’s going to be harder for me to fill that time and would require a new booking. If there is someone that wants the booking I’ll be able to transfer your deposit over.
